The African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) is a membership-based network of Ombudsman institutions in Africa with currently 47 members. AOMA aims at supporting African Ombudsman offices to discharge effectively their role of ensuring good governance and administrative justice in their countries. The focus of AOMA is to enhance efficiency in the work of its members and address the challenges facing Ombudsman/Mediator offices in Africa.
Through its organs, AOMA promotes mutual support, cooperation and joint actions of African Ombudsman offices through peer review, information sharing, training and development, as well as facilitation of research with the ultimate goal of contributing to Agenda 2063 of the African Union.
The AOMA holds its General Assembly once in two years and Rwanda was chosen to host the 7th General Assembly under the theme “Navigating Ethical Dilemmas in Mediation and Ombudsman Roles”.
