African Forensic Science Academy (AFSA) is a professional representative body for forensic science practitioners in Africa. AFSA represents the interests of its members and is presently managed by its Interim Executive.

The AFSA2024 conference will bring together forensic science professionals, agencies, organizations, academics, policy makers, and companies from across the globe under the theme: Forensic Science Ecosystem in Africa.

Forensic science practitioners alone cannot address the forensic science needs of Africa and is part of the justice and forensic science ecosystem in Africa. To this end, the conference will address the different sectors involved in the forensic science ecosystem in Africa, their roles and interactions, collaboration, and intertwined activities. The forensic science sector in Africa has, to date, not been mapped and, given that one can only manage what we measure, this conference is viewed as pivotal to "measuring" what the forensic science ecosystem in Africa includes, and to obtaining an overview of the contribution of its key players to justice.
