The IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 70.3® Triathlon Series is the world’s premier full-distance and half-distance triathlon series consisting of over 150 qualifying races in 50+ countries, regions and territories across the world. Each series culminates in its respective world championship event: The IRONMAN World Championship held annually in Kailua-Kona, Hawaï and the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship which rotates globally on an annual basis.
IRONMAN® 70.3® Rwanda is hosted in Rubavu since the first edition in August 2022.

SWIM
The one-lap swim course of 1.9km starts from the small harbour pier adjacent to the Gisenyi beach in Lake Kivu, one of the African Great Lakes. Lake Kivu is just south of the equator and lies at an altitude of 1463 meters above sea level. The average water temperature of 24°C, which is below the permissible wetsuit use for age group athletes.

BIKE
The four-lap bike course takes athletes through rural Rwandan villages along the spectacular shoreline of Lake Kivu. The great views and enthusiastic spectators are both great features of this rolling bike course. Elevation gained over the bike course is 1554m.

RUN
The three-lap run course of 21.1km incorporates the shoreline of Lake Kivu and suburban Gisenyi. Many spectators line the half marathon run course to cheer athletes all the way to the finish line, which in its own right is one of the many treasured features of IRONMAN 70.3 Rwanda! Elevation gained over the run course is 180m.
