Business Development Manager

The manager will be reporting to the Destination Marketing Director and will be in charge Development and implementation of RCB’s business development strategy and budget.

Qualifications and skills

• Master’s degree in business administration, marketing, Business Law, or a related field with 5 years of experience in business development or strategic partnerships in the international context or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field with 7 years of experience in a similar role

• Proven track record of developing successful business relationships with international organisations

• Excellent negotiation skills and ability to develop and implement strategies to attract and retain clients

• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify investment opportunities in the MICE industry

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners

• Knowledge of the MICE industry trends, regulations, and standards

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously

• Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, and demonstrate leadership skills

• Fluent in English or French. Any other international languages would be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement RCB’s business development strategy and budget and prioritizes business to focus on

2. Market Research and Analytics: Conduct research on industry trends, market demands, competitors to identify business for partnerships.

3. Identify and pursue potential strategic partnerships that can contribute to achieving our MICE revenue targets and/or support the development of the MICE industry ( in collaboration with the Industry Development Directorate, "IDD")

4. Attract, negotiate and grow the number of multi-year events

5. Monitor and evaluate the impact of MICE partnerships and events hosted in Rwanda on the industry

6. Develop strategies and implementation plan to diversify MICE revenues

7. Collaborate with local stakeholders in identifying regional and international organizations that can be hosted in Rwanda

8. Linking RCB with regional and International MICE players

9. Client Relationship Management: Maintain customer relations with clients

10. Industry Networks: Participate in industry events, conferences, and events to build contacts and stay updated with Industry trended and build new partnerships that can generate business

11. Report directly to the Director of Destination Marketing
